HappySupport
Help Center

The help center that keeps itself up to date

HappySupport publishes your articles as a help center in your brand, with search that understands questions and an AI chat that answers from your articles. When your product changes, HappySupport shows which articles are affected, so customers find the current answer instead of writing a ticket.

What the HappySupport help center does

The HappySupport help center is help center software for SaaS teams. It publishes your articles on your own domain in your brand, in up to ten additional languages, with hybrid search and an AI chat that answers only from your articles and names its sources. Git Handoff reads your code changes and shows which articles a release affects.

The HappySupport help center is included in every plan, from Starter at 129 euros per month, flat rather than per seat. AI answers, custom domains and Git Handoff come with Professional at 399 euros. Prices are billed yearly (155 or 479 euros billed monthly), excl. VAT. Every plan can be tested free for 14 days without a credit card.

How it works

From your website to a live help center

No theme editor, no CSS and no copy and paste between tools. You bring the website and the articles, HappySupport builds the help center around them.

1. Enter your website

HappySupport reads your logo and colors from your website and applies them to the help center. That is why the first preview already looks like part of your product, and you only adjust details instead of designing from scratch.

2. Import or record your articles

Import from Zendesk, Intercom, HubSpot, Help Scout, Freshdesk and seven more platforms, or record new articles. Images come along and every old URL gets a redirect, so links in tickets, emails and Google keep working after the switch.

Custom domain

3. Publish on your domain

Every help center goes live on its own address at happysupport.help. From Professional you point help.yourcompany.com at it with one DNS record, and HappySupport sets up the certificate. Customers stay on your domain, and search engines credit it to you.

Search and AI answers

Customers ask, the help center answers

HappySupport combines keyword search with semantic search. That is why a Pipely customer who types "how do I add someone new" gets "Add a new contact" as the first result, although the article never uses those words. If no article fits, the same search box hands the question to the AI chat.

Try it with your articles
The search of the Pipely help center, built with HappySupport, for the question how do I add someone new: the article Add a new contact is the first result, followed by four related articles with their groups and snippets
  1. Search that understands the question

Full-text search tolerates typos, semantic search matches meaning, and popular articles rank a little higher. Readers open it with Cmd K or Ctrl K, and every result shows a snippet, so they see the answer before they click.

  2. AI answers with sources

Ask AI answers from your published and internal articles only and links the articles it used. It knows which page the reader is on and can explain that page in simple terms. Follow-up questions keep the context of the conversation.

  3. A person when the AI can't help

If the answer doesn't solve it, the reader leaves an email address and HappySupport creates a ticket with the whole conversation. Your team picks up where the AI stopped and nobody has to explain the problem twice.

Every article

Articles readers can follow

HappySupport renders every article with the parts readers need to finish the task, without plugins or custom code.

Steps that play like the product

Recorded articles come with a step player that clicks through the task, zoomed to the right button. Readers watch the whole flow first, then read only the step they are stuck on. Videos from YouTube, Vimeo and Loom, callouts and tables are built in too.

Copy for an AI assistant

Every article has a menu to copy it as Markdown or open it in ChatGPT or Claude. Readers who prefer to ask their own assistant get your current instructions instead of an outdated web result.

Français/fr

One URL per language

Each language has its own path, so search engines index every version and readers can switch languages in the header.

In your feedback inbox

The Stage dropdown has a new option "Qualified" that isn't explained here.

Feedback that reaches your team

Readers rate each article with yes or no and can add a comment. Comments land in a feedback inbox in HappySupport, so you fix the article that confused someone instead of guessing which one it was.

Who can read it

Public, protected or only for your customers

You decide per help center who gets in and per article who sees it. One tool covers the public help center, a customer portal and internal docs.

Public help center

Open to everyone and indexed by search engines and AI assistants. This is how most SaaS teams turn articles into fewer tickets and new visitors.

Password protection

One password for the whole help center, for example for a beta or a partner portal. Included from Professional.

SSO and your app's login

Readers sign in through your identity provider (OIDC with Keycloak) or with the login of your own app, so customers don't need a second account. Included on Scale.

Articles per audience

Show an article only to signed-in readers or to readers with a certain role or attribute. Everyone else gets a normal "not found" page. Included on Scale.

Internal articles for the AI

Mark an article as internal and the AI chat may use it to answer, but readers never see it, not in search, the sitemap or llms.txt. Use it for background knowledge you don't want to publish.

Share one article by link

Send a single unpublished article to one customer with a private link. Useful for answers that don't belong in the public help center.

Found on Google and in AI answers

Built so search engines and AI can read it

HappySupport writes the technical files a help center needs to rank and be cited. You don't configure any of them, they update with every publish.

Sitemaps with hreflang

One sitemap per language with last-modified dates and language links, so Google indexes new articles quickly and shows readers the right language.

Structured data

Every page carries JSON-LD for articles, how-tos, questions and breadcrumbs. That is what lets search results show your steps and your breadcrumb path.

Meta descriptions by AI

HappySupport writes a meta description of about 160 characters for every article in every language, so no page goes out with an empty snippet.

llms.txt and Markdown pages

An llms.txt index and a Markdown version of every page, and robots.txt lets AI crawlers in. ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity read your help center as clean text and cite it.

Redirects with hit counts

Point old URLs at an article, a group or an external page, or import them from your old sitemap. HappySupport counts the hits of the last 30 days, so you see which old links are still in use.

Preview images and feeds

Every article gets its own social preview image, and RSS and JSON feeds list new articles for anyone who wants to follow along.

After the next release

Keeping the help center current

A help center is only useful while it matches the product. HappySupport notices when it stops matching and prepares the fix.

Git Handoff

HappySupport reads the commits in your GitHub or GitLab repository, works out which articles a change affects and drafts the update. Your team reviews and publishes it. Included from Professional.

Health audit

A regular audit checks links, structure, SEO, images, freshness and guides, for example dead links, missing descriptions or screenshots that are years old. Every finding links to the place you fix it. Included from Professional.

Translations that follow

When you change the source article, the translations update with it, using your glossary for product terms. No language falls behind after a release.

Views and feedback

See which articles readers open, from where and in which language, next to their ratings. You know which articles are worth improving first.

Beyond the website

The same articles in your product and your tools

The help center is the source. HappySupport delivers its articles wherever customers and your team need them.

In-app help widget

Customers search and read the help center inside your product without leaving the page. The widget is included in every plan.

Announcements

Schedule a banner at the top of the help center and in the widget, for example for maintenance or a new feature, and let readers dismiss it.

Changelog

Switch on the changelog and your help center gets a page per release, with its own feed, so customers see what changed and where it is documented.

Embeds

Embed a single article or step player in your app, your website or an onboarding email with an iframe.

Content API

Read help centers, groups and articles through a REST API with an API key, for example to show them in your own app. Included from Professional.

MCP server

Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to HappySupport and let them search, write and move articles with your permission. Included in every plan.

FAQ

The HappySupport help center, in detail

What it costs, where it runs and what it includes.

Is there a free version of the HappySupport help center?+

No, HappySupport has no free plan. You can test the HappySupport help center free for 14 days without a credit card, with every Scale feature. After that, Starter costs 129 euros per month with one help center and 50 active articles, Professional 399 euros with three help centers and 300 articles, and Scale 899 euros with five help centers and 750 articles, billed yearly (155, 479 or 1,079 euros billed monthly), excl. VAT, flat rather than per seat. Drafts and translations don't count as active articles.

Can I run the HappySupport help center on my own domain?+

Yes, from Professional. You add a CNAME record for a subdomain such as help.yourcompany.com, or an A record for a root domain, and HappySupport issues the certificate automatically. On Starter, the help center runs on its own address at happysupport.help. HappySupport hosts the help center on a domain or subdomain; serving it from a subfolder such as yourcompany.com/help is not supported.

Which help centers can I import into HappySupport?+

HappySupport imports from Zendesk, Intercom, HubSpot, Help Scout, Freshdesk, Crisp, Helpjuice, GitBook, Document360, ReadMe, Mintlify and Docusaurus. Notion and Confluence can be imported when the public site publishes an llms.txt file. The import moves images, links articles to each other, keeps the original dates and creates a redirect for every old URL.

Does the HappySupport AI chat answer only from my articles?+

Yes. Ask AI in the HappySupport help center answers from your published and internal articles and links the articles it used. Internal articles are never cited or shown to readers. Professional includes 250 AI answers per month and Scale 1,000. When the allowance is used up, AI answers pause and search keeps working; there are no automatic overage charges.

Can I restrict who reads my HappySupport help center?+

Yes. A help center can be public, protected with a password from Professional, or behind SSO or your own app's login on Scale. SSO works with Keycloak over OIDC; SAML is not supported. On Scale you can also show single articles only to signed-in readers or readers with a certain role.

How does HappySupport help my help center rank on Google and in ChatGPT?+

HappySupport generates sitemaps per language with hreflang, structured data for articles and how-tos, meta descriptions for every article, an llms.txt index and a Markdown version of every page. robots.txt lets AI crawlers such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot in. All of it updates with every publish, on every plan.

Which languages does the HappySupport help center support?+

Starter includes one additional language, Professional five and Scale ten. HappySupport translates article text and step captions automatically and updates the translations when the source article changes. Every language gets its own URL path. The interface of the help center itself, such as search and buttons, is available in English and German.

How does HappySupport keep my help center up to date?+

Git Handoff reads the commits in your GitHub or GitLab repository, finds the articles a change affects and drafts updates for your team to review. A health audit checks for dead links, missing descriptions, stale articles and old screenshots. Both are included from Professional.

Can I brand the HappySupport help center?+

Yes. You set the logo, favicon, a primary color, the header colors and a background pattern for the start page, and HappySupport applies them to the help center and the widget. Custom domain and branding are included from Professional. Custom CSS and custom fonts are not available.

Where is the HappySupport help center hosted?+

HappySupport is hosted in the EU, with data stored in Germany, and is GDPR compliant. Your articles are never used to train AI models.
